Night Fishing
If you're used to fish during the day, but considering a fishing session in the evening, here are some tips to make it more enjoyable.
- Take warm clothes for the night – even in summer it is just 2 or 3 hours cold uncomfortable. You should pack clothing as if you were to take a ride on a cold winter day.
- Prepare yourself for a long session of night fishing: Take at least one bottle of hot drink, preferably two, and lots of food.
- Keep a flashlight nearby, but try not to use it. The more your eyes adjust to the darkness of the night the easier it is for you to manage the fishery without artificial light, which will scare the fish.
- Take a friend with you, especially if your first night fishing. In the silence of the night, the slightest noise can be quite scary (not that most of us admit it).
- Make sure that all equipment and fishing is close at hand, as the landing net, bait etc. It's easier than wandering through the night looking for misplaced items.
- Choose your bathroom with caution. A good place for the day is not necessarily the best place for night fishing. Do not pick anywhere too bushes or trees with an overload.
- Pack a sleeping bag and bivouac tent or small if possible.
