what is nipping my Siamese fighting fish?

I bought a siamese fighter yesterday and when i looked in the tank this morning it has hardly any fins left. i had this trouble a while ago with another fighter and when I took it back to the shop they said nothing I had in my tank would nip. This time around I have a completely different set of fish except from my frogs which I had at the same time as my old fighter. Could these do it? Otherwise in my tank I have mollies, platies, gupies, guarmies and corys.

Absolutely they could – I’m thinking the gourami or the mollies/platies are to blame. I suggest not adding a betta again, they’ll just kill the poor guy. Gouramis can be pretty aggressive and territorial, and mollies and platies will pick on a fish that is ill or injured.

I keep a betta with cory cats, and that combo is peaceful. Maybe you could set up a little tank with just cories and the betta if you really want a betta.
