Depends on what type of fish you want to catch?
Walleye- Mille Lacs is hot for Walleye and Musky. However, it’s a BIG lake and can be dangerous and “not fun” when weather comes in. Plus, Mille Lacs has ever changing laws on size restrictions, so, if you want a “walleye dinner” you have to fish perty hard to find a keeper. Lake Vermilion is fun for Walleye.
And if you want premium Walleye & Lake Trout try Gunflint Lake near the Border of Canada. (In fact, all border lakes have decent levels of Walleye & Northern).
Crappie- Red lake. Island Lake near Duluth.
