Shark based on one of the Great Lakes? 1960 or 1970?
I remember for some time looking at pictures in a Chicago newspaper, published in the bait and fishing tackle shop on a shark or killed, captured, or are registered in one of the Great Lakes to United States. I'm not making. Most people skeptical about this, but it was a picture in a big Chicago newspaper. Are there old enough to remember this picture? Please help, because a type of bet in this regard. I think it was a fish and photo, and was in a major newspaper in Chicago, about 20 to 35 years. I'm not making. (I'm not saying that sharks are the Great Lakes. I'm not trying to scare anyone.)
Although most people think of sharks and rays that the inhabitants of salt water only, very little use of freshwater living spaces. In a 1995 document, elasmobranch systematist Leonard Compagno and shark biologist Sid Cook fishing studied the diversity and distribution of sharks and rays. Compagno and Cook reported that nearly 43 species of elasmobranch in 10 genera and four families penetrate freshwater environments in Australia South Asia, West Africa, eastern South America, Central America and parts of southeastern North America. elasmobranchs coastal including skates (family Rajidae), smooth dogfish dogfish pajamas (Triakidae) (Poroderma spp.), and the sandbar shark (Carcharhinus plumbeus) equally between estuaries to feed or give birth to young. More impressive still skates (Dasyatidae, Potamotrygonidae, and others), sawfish (Pristidae) and the famous bull shark (Carcharhinus leucas), which penetrate far into freshwater rivers – the bull shark was 2.600 miles (4,200 km) from the mouth of the Amazon – And some even complete their life cycle in freshwater. However, in theory, should be almost impossible for a saltier "than water elasmobranchs sea to survive in freshwater. How these freshwater sharks and rays osmoregulation manage this feat? There are a few shark species that thrive in fresh water, and some sharks have been known to risk their homes saltwater lakes and rivers. I can not find no pictures or talk, sorry
