Mini China welcomes you!
Is it possible to walk the length and breadth of China in a single day?
A place that could do that is in the Park of Ethnic Culture of China, south of Bird's Nest and the Olympic Park.
The large park has been a labor of love and faithfully recreates life in the 56 ethnic groups in China.
Some of the "mountains" or "plateaus" Beijing can be seen from the main Olympic venues, and the three towers in Dali, Yunnan Province, living replicas of temple Jokhang and many other large ethnic buildings.
The park covers 45 hectares of land in the northern fourth ring road and a pleasant will walk through six or seven hours. It is also an anthropological museum, the Museum of Nationalities of China.
When construction began in 1992, was part of the plan for China to bid for the 2000 Olympics. China lost the nomination in 1993, winning only eight years after the 2008 Games.
"It is actually a good thing for us, since he was eight years to do research for the museum and collect cultural relics of various ethnic groups "Says museum curator Wang Ping.
It took three to five years to prepare park and a museum for the construction of the area of each ethnic group. Although the first phase of the park opened in 1994, worked on non-stop since.
"I worked in the field in all regions of ethnic minorities in China – I've never been to a few tourist attractions like the Huangshan Mountain or Taishan Mountain but I been to many villages in the mountains of Himalayas, "said Wang.
Each ethnic group has a "village" in the park to see its architecture, religion, lifestyle and cultural relics. Many crops are planted to different ethnic groups, such as rice paddy for the Dong people, highland barley for the Tibetans and buckwheat for Yi.
"We hope to encourage visitors to enter the life of different ethnic groups," explains Wang
Some buildings in the park are original, taken apart in their places of origin are then transported and reassembled in Beijing. Other were prepared in the original place and assembled in Beijing.
For example, the symbol of the town of Salar, a Muslim ethnic group in northwest China is a minaret Shangbaizhuang village, municipality Baizhuang, Xunhua Salar Autonomous County, Qinghai Province. The minaret was built around it 300 years ago, and was transferred to the Park of Ethnic Culture in China in 2003.
In the southern part of the Park of Ethnic Culture in China, you can visit a replica of the Ermin Tower, an ancient tower in Turpan, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Standing a tower of 44 m, is exactly the same size as the original. The yellow-gray bricks were all manually in Xinjiang and assembled by craftsmen in Beijing Xinjiang Uygur.
In the northern part of the park, a drum tower, opera stage and "rain and wind bridge" represent the environment of a village of the Dong people. A rice field paddy and ducks and fish in the lake to the idyllic atmosphere of the environment.
The park also features cultural performances. Each morning, lamas of the monastery real tar in the province of Qinghai Tibetan singing Buddhist sutras to pray for peace in the Tibetan monastery, while a priest burns incense and says his prayers at Dongba Naxi people.
Then, the artists of the Miao minority put on a show of "walking on blades", a traditional Miao stunt, while singers and dancers of other ethnic groups, such as Go and visitors Jingpo You know his program in each village.
Throughout the year, festivals of various ethnic groups are held, including Tibetans Shota Festival, the Festival of Water Spray Dai village and the Lantern Festival of the Yi.
"Most minorities are very good at singing and dancing. Participate in activities can understand and respect their cultures more, "said Feng Lei, a 47-year-old visitor to the park.
Liu Li, a visitor of 29 years, participated in the "bamboo dance" of the Dai people and found joy in her long-lost, such as "jumping rubber band" game in its infancy.
"In the past, he had to travel a long way to explore the lives of minorities, but I found in Beijing" she said. " separated only by a wall from the hustle and bustle of the North Fourth Ring Road, which is a totally different world here. "
Wang said that after the Chinese Foreign construction and Ethnic Culture Park of China Nationalities Museum is complete, we still much work to be done, particularly in improving the presentation of ethnic culture and enriching collections.
The Museum of Nationalities China has collected to date more than 100,000 relics culture of various ethnic groups. Particularly valuable of them are cultural relics of 5000 of the Qiang, housed in a typical watch tower. In the recent earthquake in Sichuan, Beichuan Qiang Autonomous County was beaten and thousands of cultural relics were destroyed.
"If we had not collected these cultural relics have been lost forever, "said Wang
As an anthropological museum, China Nationalities Museum mainly collects items that reflect the lives of ordinary people and 15 July, the museum will open a new exhibition titled Exposition of ordinary people – our history and roots, showing items such as needles, containers and bags.
The preface of the exhibition said: "Most production tools and daily utensils arelost the ordinary people without a trace in history. However, these are items that give us a vivid picture of our life and our culture that tell us about our history and help us find our roots. "
"What we present to the world during the Olympics? Is our culture and our people, I think," said Wang
