Dogs, warts and fishing lines ~ ~ ~?
I have a English Staffy with growths on his hind legs – they look like warts. I have heard you can tie fine fishing line around the growths and they will eventually drop off. Has anyone had any experience with this?
wart removal is and always will be, better handled by a vet. Tying anything with fishing line will cause what you tied to fall off, but should you do it? NO!!! If they are indeed warts and not skin tags. You tie off a skin tag your going to have lots of problems. Tying off a wart will not cure or rid the dog of the internal “roots” warts put out into the tissues of the legs. You need to remove them from the roots in order for them not to re-appear. Also these may not be warts, they could by cysts, or tumorous growths that should be looked at by a vet. Besides if you do and they fall off, you are going to be looking at an open wound where it fell off, and that is at high risk of infection. Besides its painful. Dont do it.
