Why not my motorcycle tank?
I have a 50gal I created for some African cichlids. I filled six days ago and started cycling. The tank already had a few turtles that live there. I was sold, then completely emptied the tank. I 'm all washed gravel, tank walls removed (without chemicals, just water). The filter housing that I was a little unpleasant, so I put coal BioZorb new, but the upper layer (thin spongy part) I just washed it and left. The black part of coarse filtration in the background just rinse well. So I put on February 3 "goldfish in the tank to start cycling. I tried ammonia and nitrite today and found nothing. As I have in the past six days. I am using a high-end equipment liquid control. Why do not all appear in ammonia? I have a couple of small plants from there, is it?
I can also imagine Some years cycles survived the cleaning tank, just keep some goldfish modest. Do fish there, they must be producing ammonia, sheets of ammonia, indicating that at least one cycle. Plants have a direct effect because it absorbs ammonia and nitrate so that water and fact form part of the cycle.
